Many of the 70% of Australian family businesses employ non-family employees. However family involvement creates a complexity for non-family managers in a family business. In this half-day program, you will examine the difference that family involvement has on working in a family business, and develop an appreciation of how non-family managers can manage their role in a family business.

About the Presenters
Donella Caspersz works as an academic at the UWA Business School. Donella’s research covers management and organisational behaviour in human resource and employment relations, prosocial behaviour, migration and family business. In family business, Donella publishes on areas of human resource development, transgenerational transfer, and non family managers and CEO succession. Donella works with colleagues in Europe and Asia on this research. Donella has hosted the UWA-FBA Annual Family Business Lecture for the last 5 years, and has convened two academic conferences, the most recent being a symposium with colleagues from Europe and the nearby region on Family Business Sustainability and Continuity in the Digital Economy in September 2018.
John Broons is an Accredited Specialist Family Business Advisor of Family Business Australia and Fellow of the Family Firm Institute (Boston, USA) CFBA, ACFBA. He also is a multi-award-winning Chairman of a TEC Group, (The Executive Connection) coaching and mentoring CEO’s of family owned and corporate businesses with revenues from $500k to $1.6Billion. John has presented internationally and locally, including Family Business Australia’s education programs and the 2017 WA CPA Conference. John works with decision makers in family businesses and corporates of all sizes to get clarity and focus around relationships and business success.
